FIFA 16 remains one of the most beloved football simulations ever made, thanks to its unique gameplay balance. However, playing with squads from 2015 can feel outdated. Enter the FIFA Infinity Patch 16 v.9, the comprehensive update that transforms your classic game into a complete 2025/2026 season experience.

As always, a clean installation of FIFA 16 is strongly recommended. Even if you have used earlier versions of FIP 16, starting fresh is advised due to the scale of the 2024 and 25 updates. If you plan to customise competitions using the FIP Tournament Manager, make sure to do that before starting a new Career Mode save.

FIP PATCH MANAGER

FIP Patch Manager is in root FIFA 16 folder after applying patch. This single tool replaces the previous set of patch tools.

Versions

• Use to select the version of the patch you wish to play.
• You can make backups of your current version, including any customisation. Restoring a backup that a career was started with will allow you to continue it if you changed to a different version. Backup will include main DB, language DBs and compdata (tournament structure) files.

Tournaments

• You can customise what tournaments are available in career mode, there are additional options compared to the default career mode compdata.
• There are also tournament mode compdata options which allow you to play international and club continental tournaments in tournament mode. If you install a tournament mode only compdata set, career mode will be locked in-game to avoid crashing.

Database Extra

• Manage the face types in the applied DB based on the collection in your game.
• Manage the player names, will add name IDs over 28999 to dcplayernames table so are visible in-game.
• Enable young icons. Add young versions of iconic former players to your career mode who are set as young with reduced attributes and a high potential. Options to add them as free agents, where possible their first clubs and where possible a significant club.

Theme

• Use to install menu themes.

Player Options

• Use to assign boots to players and GK gloves to goalkeepers. These assignments are saved to lua files and take precedence over DB assignments.
• To add additional boots to FIP Patch Manager, edit FIFA 16\fip\boots\bootlist.txt and add a preview image in FIFA 16\fip\boots\preview\, PNG format. As usual, put the boot model and texture files in FIFA 16\data\sceneassets\shoe\.
• To add additional gloves to FIP Patch Manager, edit FIFA 16\fip\gkgloves\gkglovelist.txt and add a preview image in FIFA 16\fip\gkgloves\preview\, PNG format. As usual, put the gloves model and texture files in FIFA 16\data\sceneassets\gkglove\.

Other

• Regenerate.

KNOWN ISSUES

Some custom tournaments will crash with the default patch compdata. Deleting cups until the compobj size is less than 1700 should resolve the issue if you want to play with custom tournaments. The tournament mode compdata set with only cup finals could be used.

When editing externally, you will notice some players with the word junior or variations in the common name string have the first word repeated, for example “Neymar Neymar Jr”. This is to fix an EA bug which omits the first name of the string so it displays as “Neymar Jr” in game as opposed to “Jr” without the fix.

The Dutch play-offs do not use the real format due to an currently unresolvable issue when the Eredivise team wins the semi final but looses the final. For the same reason, the Scottish League 1 and 2 play-offs use the same formation as the Championship play-off.

The Serie C promotion play-offs are omitted as real format can not added.

Andorra Segona Divisió play-offs omitted as only 2 first teams are in division, this reduced chance of B team being promoted.

The English National League North and South have been added to Wales as there is a five leagues per country limit in career mode.

In UEFA SW, Russia and Armenia have been set as AFC countries due to a limitation.

Due to FIFA 16 only allowing teams to relegate to a single league, all 4 National League relegated teams relegate to the National League North. To balance numbers, the bottom 2 teams in the National League North “relegate” to the National League South. A similar adaption had been applied to Serie C, Primera Federación and Greek Super League 2.

In UEFA SE, viewing the Romanian Cup in the other leagues menu prior to the group stage draw being made will crash the game.

In UEFA NW, you can not have the FIFA Club World Cup and EFL Cup both enabled or you will experience crashing when playing with English teams in career mode due to a focused tournaments limitation.

NOTES

Due to the large number of players in the patch, the playernames table is completely filled and excess entries are in the dcplayernames table in some versions. This means if you add new players or edit player names, the names may be missing in-game. This can be resolved by copying all entries from the playernames table with IDs of 29000 and higher to the dcplayernames table. CM16 does not modify the dcplayernames table.

If you use Creation Master 16 and save, you will introduce some minor bug in the compdata. Tie breaker rules change in the Liga MX playoffs. Serie B will indicate 4 playoff slots, but all 6 teams will actually compete. You can restore the original compdata with the selector program.

Women’s national teams are removed.

The patch does not include any gameplay modifications. Feel free to add your own.

This patch includes Revolution Mod 16. Do not install Revolution Mod 16 V1.3 with this patch as the included version is a more recent build.

INSTRUCTIONS

It is strongly recommended that you use a clean install of FIFA 16 for this patch. This includes if you have previous versions of FIP16 installed as the build has been refreshed for the 21/22 season.

A feature of the patch is using socks from a different kit in the event of a colour clash. This can be disabled by removing the line “setGlobalKitAlternateOptions(2,2)” from the file data\fifarna\lua\assignments\general.lua.

For leagues with league ID swaps applied, they will use assets with the original league IDs except UI league and trophy logos.

Clean Install Instructions:

• Exit EA App.
• Rename “FIFA 16” folder.
• Open EA App.
• Select FIFA 16 and download.
• To switch between installs, exit EA App and rename folders. Folder named “FIFA 16” will be active.

Manual Setup:

• Place all files from “Manual Install” folder into FIFA 16 folder.
• Regenerate using FIP Tournament Manager (home tab).

Preparing for Career Mode.

• Choose preferred version using FIP Patch Manager (version tab).
• (Optional) Make customisations with Creation Master 16 (not included).
• (Optional) Customise cup selections using FIP Patch Manager (tournaments tab) and apply.
• (Optional) Any additional DB options using FIP Patch Manager (database extra tab).
• Start your new career. Choose to play with default squads and do not select UEFA CL/EL groups via “European Competition in 1st Season?”.
